What are the Actual Causes of Snoring?

 What is snoring?


Let’s just talk about snoring. Snoring happens when air usually does not pass through the mouth and nose easily. When air is passed or flows with force through obstructed areas which are soft tissues of mouth, nose and throat . These muscles bump into each and vibrate. It will result in a loud rattling and gurgling sound which doesn’t seem pleasant. It is called snoring. Snoring can interrupt others’ sleep as well. 




Effects of snoring


There are multiple effects of snoring on the body of the individuals. Increased or long term snoring results in increased heart rate, increased risk of heart attack , stroke and other health related problems. Obesity is also one major problem which causes snoring that results in bad and deleterious effects on the health. As the obese people are bulky, soft tissues can store extra amounts of fat inside the cells resulting in blockage or less flow of air . This can cause snoring which leads to other major problems.


Causes of snoring:


There are some major causes and conditions which block air passage to pass the air smoothly. These factors are :


Use of alcohols, opioids and sedatives which relax body muscles restrict the airflow.

Bulky tissues. Which are soft like adenoids, tonsils or tongue creates hindrance in the passage of air.

Obesity of the tissues which put certain pressure on the soft tissues of air flow,. Compresses the air ways.

Pregnancy hormone causes inflammation in the nose and restricts the pathway of air .

Low muscle tone or muscles are weak naturally causes snoring

Nasal congestion

Inflammation of nose due to influenza, cold or fever

Some structural difference of the bones of the nose and throat which causes changes in the tissues, compresses the passage of air.


Treatment of snoring:


There are certain treatments to be given to the patients who snore loudly and do snoring for a longer period of time.

If you change your lifestyle it will produce sound effects on your body. Avoiding alcohol, change sleep habits decreases weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle will reduce snoring.

Cold and breathing medications will give your body an ultimate relief .It will also improve the process of breathing during sleep.

There are certain flexible band strips which stick outside of the nose . It helps in the breathing process.

You can also wear an oral appliance which keeps your jaws at a proper position. So, air can flow in a better direction.
